About Us

Established in 1935, The Illinois Society for Microbiology (ISM) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting scientific knowledge in the field of microbiology as well as supporting the contributions of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). ISM is one of the oldest chapters of ASM. Our members are microbiologists, supervisors and managers of laboratories, directors of microbiology departments, commercial suppliers and academicians. We are dedicated to the continuous education of Microbiology professionals in Illinois.
